Taffeta Chime

Taffeta Chime is an author and student. Her first novel, Stoodie, has done well for a first-time, self-published young author like Chime; in its three years of published life, Stoodie has sold over a thousand copies worldwide. Chime is now working to complete her second novel, The Last, which is also serving as her undergraduate Honors thesis/creative project at Middle Tennessee State University. Chime has also written several short stories that have won multiple awards, including numerous international trophies from the Future Problem Solving Program’s International Scenario Writing Competition and the Martha Hixon Creative Expression Award from the MTSU Honors College. Her stories have been published in several academic literary journals, including MTSU’s “Collage” and Volunteer State Community College’s “Squatter’s Rights.” In addition, Chime’s poetry has also been published in “Collage,” and “Time and Tide,” a book of poetry from select MTSU Honors College professors, alumni, and students.

Chime is a senior Buchanan Fellow at MTSU, where she is studying English with a double-minor in Creative Writing and Theatre. As a college student, she is focusing foremost on her studies but is also enjoying the life of a college student; she is an active member of the Raiders for Christ campus ministry, the Honors Student Association, and the Theatre program. She also plays percussion and sings in a cover band (Plutonium Avalanche), teaches an English Bible class to non-English speakers at the North Boulevard church of Christ, and enjoys working out and cooking. In her little free time, Chime revels in simply shenanigizing with friends.

Chime says, “I have written since I knew how to write, and I will continue to write for as long as I can write; having the chance to work through a group like Running Back to Glory to use my writing to support promising work for the Lord in Brazil is something I’m thrilled to pursue. After all, “Since you are eager for the manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church” (I Corinthians 14:12).”
